Constantly Risking Absurdity

A concept. Also the title of one of my favourite poems by Lawrence Ferlinghetti.

My grandmother is an angel but much like most individuals born in the first half of the 1900s, she’s of a different mind. When I tell her I blog, she thinks I write for a newspaper but I’m still working on bridging this generational gap. Besides that fun fact and moving along to the real reason why I’m referencing my grandmother in this post is because she holds the strong and unwavering opinion that girls should not under any circumstances, wear pants *laughs in feminism*! Not even to bed ‘coz God forbid you die in your sleep and meet your maker inappropriately dressed in pants. Anyway that begs me to ask, are night dresses still a thing? Haven’t seen one in ages but that’s besides the point.

What I’m getting at here is that I hope this aesthetic serves as a reasonable compromise but even then I believe she won’t be sufficiently satisfied.

I tried!

Compromise aside I don’t know why I’m obsessed with this style which I’m certainly not trying for the first time. I guess I tend to counter-intuitive aesthetics and that’s all thanks to Leandra Medine of The Manrepeller and Margaret Zhang. I of course have a variety of other ladies I lean on for style inspo but a special mention goes to these lovely ladies this time around because they’ve truly mastered the style to the point where one asks themselves why they haven’t tried it yet. Or is that just me? Either way it’s a daring look to pull off and one that you know will surely confuse the enemy- or at least your grandmother. That was funny, laugh!

Whether you think I look stupid or definitely bon chic, bon genre, I can’t and won’t stop trying skirts/dresses over pants. Constantly risking absurdity right?

Get with the program!

Xo.
