Resolute

“I’ve always been weary of putting myself out there in fear of what I would get back but this year I definitely built that proverbial bridge and crossed right over it. Thick skin is developed only in the face of abrasion and you have to make yourself uncomfortable to truly grow. And listen, the decision to step out of my comfort zone has resulted in 2016 definitely being one for the books.”

Okay so I have to admit that I haven’t done a personal style post in almost 2 months, 2! Where has the time gone? Or am I once again a victim of my own terrible habits; procrastination. Anyway, it’s that time of the year where most people are recovering from the grueling year that was 2016 (according to popular opinion) and finally it is now the time to slow down and well, chill! Alas, because I am absolutely incongruent with many people’s realities, I am trying to make the most of the 3 days I have left of this year.

As the end of yet another year is upon us and we’ve all reached the final few days with our sights now eagerly set on the upcoming year we’re haunted by thoughts of intense introspection and evaluation. Some might feel like this year was stuck in the 7th circle of hell and some might feel like they accomplished everything they set out to and have already started drafting their next plan of action for 2017. I for one can say with much conviction that this year has been a year of growth and realisation. Yes, Kylie Jenner really was onto something here I’m afraid!

Starting 1ne2wenty3hree was one of the best decisions I made this year, and contrary to popular opinion, I did not start it with aims of jumping onto the, ad nauseum, blogger/influencer bandwagon to get a piece of that pie. This blog has been more of a ‘me project’, a confidence booster of sorts rather than an attempt at garnering fame. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no kid without an ounce of self esteem but sometimes you can get ‘lost in the sauce’ (for lack of a better phrase, please bare with me). I’ve always been weary of putting myself out there in fear of what I would get back but this year I definitely built that proverbial bridge and crossed right over it. Thick skin is developed only in the face of abrasion and you have to make yourself uncomfortable to truly grow. And listen, the decision to step out of my comfort zone has resulted in 2016 definitely being one for the books.

So dear friends, I can only hope that this year has been kind to you and if it hasn’t, hell then bottoms up for now as a new start is well on its way but before we all reconfigure I hope what we take away, good and bad, will only aid us in creating a better future for ourselves.

Upwards and onwards, comrades!
